I'm teaching an art class at Chemeketa Community College this Summer. There are a great bunch of creators taking the class. We are working on our final project. A black and white comic book anthology. Everyone is submitting two pages. We are going to photocopy the original art and create a 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 zine style mini-comic.

The class has decided on a name for the comic: Space Duck Squad ... I love it. It makes everyone smile at least. A couple of students have volunteered to draw the cover art. I'm including my stab at it here. Hopefully we won't have to use it. But they are hard at work finishing up their own art so it's a lot of extra work to also do the cover.

I cannot wait to see how it turns out!

In an effort to communicate with a real person, this DA member suggests using a picture of yourself as your avatar to make it more personable. I'm very interested in growing community. Let's see if this makes a difference.

I like comics and enjoy making comic books. On April 9th, 2011 there will be the first annual Mini-Comics Day, celebrating the art of cartooning and creating hand-made comic books.

On Mini-Comics Day, participating cartoonists from around the world will write, draw, and print copies of a mini-comic, completing the entire process from start to finish in a day or less. Anyone in the world can participate.

I'm going to do it and share it. Anyone else out there participating in this? Please lemme know.
